How to Get Salon-Quality Nails at Home with Semi-Cured Gel Wraps

Salon gel manicures cost £35 to £50 every two weeks and eat an hour of your time. Semi cured gel wraps give you the same glossy, chip-resistant finish at home in under 10 minutes for a fraction of the cost.

Semi cured gel wraps are real gel, pre-shaped and ready to stick. Skip the messy liquids, the base and top coats, the hour in the chair. Apply the wrap, cure for 60 seconds under a UV lamp, and you are done for 2 to 3 weeks.

Hello Nails wraps are HEMA-free and TPO-free - the durability of gel without the harsh chemicals. And unlike some competitors, no subscription. Buy once, use as many times as you like.

The cost difference

One salon gel manicure costs £35 to £50. A Hello Nails Starter Kit costs £55 and includes the lamp, wraps, cuticle stick, and file - everything you need for ongoing manicures. After the initial kit, refill sets start at £14.99, or as low as £9.37 per set with 8 for 5 bundles.

Over a year, switching from salon visits to semi cured gel wraps saves roughly £800 to £1,000. Plus you save travel time, waiting time, and the hassle of booking appointments.

What you get in a set

  • 20 wraps in your chosen colour or design
  • A cuticle stick
  • A nail file
  • Full 2 to 3 weeks of wear

From £14.99 per set. Or save with a 4 for 3 bundle, 6 for 4 pack, or 8 for 5 pack.

If you do not have a lamp yet, the Starter Kit has everything you need in one box.

How to apply

Prep (2 minutes)
Push back cuticles with the included stick. Shape nails with the file. Wipe each nail with rubbing alcohol to remove oils. Good prep is the difference between wraps that last 3 weeks and wraps that lift in 3 days.

Apply (5 minutes)
Peel a wrap from its backing. Align the rounded edge with your cuticle and press from the centre outward, smoothing any bubbles. Repeat for all 10 nails. File off any excess at the tip using a downward angle.

Cure (1 minute)
Place your nails under a UV lamp for 60 seconds. The gel hardens into a durable, high-gloss finish. That is it. No drying time, no smudging, no waiting.

Remove (when ready)
Cuticle oil soaks the wrap off with no damage to the natural nail. Gently work it off with a cuticle stick.

Downsides?

You need a UV lamp - the gel will not cure without one. You need 10 to 15 minutes of quiet time. And finding the right size takes a practice run the first time. After that it is 5 minutes.

If you spend £40 every two weeks on salon gel, switching saves you about £800 to £1,000 a year. Plus the travel and wait time. And you can change colours whenever you want.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Starter Kit worth it?
Yes. The Starter Kit costs £55 and includes the UV lamp (which you need), wraps, cuticle stick, and file. Buying the lamp separately costs £14.99, so the kit essentially gives you your first manicure kit for the price of the lamp plus one set of wraps.

How long does one set last?
Each set contains 20 wraps and lasts 2 to 3 weeks. A 4 for 3 bundle covers roughly 3 months of manicures.

Can I use regular nail polish over the wraps?
You can, but it is not necessary. The wraps come out of the lamp with a high-gloss finish that looks like a salon manicure on its own.

Start with a Starter Kit or pick a colour from the collection.
