Why We Don't Force a Subscription (And Why That Matters)
Let me be honest with you.
When I started Hello Nails, I spent a lot of time looking at how other nail brands work. And one thing kept coming up: subscriptions.
Nearly every brand in this space wants you on a monthly plan. You sign up, they send you wraps every month, and if you forget to cancel... well, that's your problem, not theirs.
I hate that model. I think it's fundamentally dishonest. And I refused to build Hello Nails that way.
What's Wrong With the Subscription Model?
On the surface, subscriptions sound convenient. Who doesn't want fresh nail wraps showing up every month without thinking about it?
The problem is how they're sold.
Most subscription nail brands don't make it clear you're signing up for recurring payments. The "subscribe and save" option is the default. The one-time purchase is buried. And when you try to cancel? Good luck. Some brands make you call a phone number. Some make you email and wait days for a response. Some just keep charging you until you escalate.
It's not a convenience feature. It's a retention tactic designed to make leaving harder than staying.
How Hello Nails Is Different
At Hello Nails, you buy what you want, when you want. That's it.
- One-time purchase. Always. No auto-renewals, no hidden subscriptions, no surprise charges.
- Our best prices are for everyone. Our 4 for 3 multibuy is available to every customer, not locked behind a subscription tier. You don't need to sign up for a monthly plan to get the best value.
- You come back because you want to. Not because you're being charged until you notice and fight to stop it.
I know that sounds simple. It should be. But in an industry where "subscribe and save" is the default and cancellation is designed to be painful, being straightforward is actually a differentiator.
What Our Customers Say
Our Trustpilot reviews say it better than I can. We're rated 4.5 out of 5, and one of the most common things customers mention is that they love that we don't force a subscription.
"Finally, a nail wrap company that doesn't try to trap you into a subscription. Bought what I wanted, paid once, no surprises."
That's not a coincidence. It's a choice we made from day one.
Why This Matters
I started Hello Nails because I wanted beautiful nails without damaging my natural nails at the salon. But I also wanted to build a brand I'd want to buy from - one that treats customers like people, not revenue streams.
A subscription model would probably make us more money in the short term. But I'd rather build a brand that people trust and choose to come back to, than one they feel trapped by.
So no, we don't do subscriptions. We never have. And we never will.
You're welcome here whether you buy once a year or once a month. On your terms, not ours.
